According to a recent blog post by Mitch Joel, ghost blogging is some sort of sin.

Generally speaking, related to all forms of content generation, my feeling is that transparency it key to all relationships between companies/brands and clients/customers.

If an celebrity is passing of their blog posts as their own, it’s almost expected.  We know Letterman doesn’t write all of his own jokes.  And we know Ford doesn’t write all of it’s own press releases.  Why then, should we blast a company for using writers for their content?  I want my favorite brands to provide well thought-out content.  I want my local businesses to focus on providing good products and services and leave the communicating tasks to the communicators.

Now, let’s talk about relationships.  One might say that having someone manage a businesses social media account is like having the nanny constantly stand in for the parent.  The kid turns out with the skills to manipulate the parents and expect repeated disappointment, and the parent doesn’t know how to be a parent.

BUT…

Let’s be real, outsourcing relational marketing is more like using a broker to buy or sell as house.  A broker looks for the best value in the transaction… for whichever side it is representing.  The brand wants the best value out of a relationship possible, so the social media team is the relational broker working on behalf of the brand.  Our goals are to get the best value on behalf of the brand, giving the best value to the consumer, and therefore extending the impression beyond that one person and into their network.

Latitude Software is here to be that Relational Broker.  We can provide the people, time, excitement, and attention that brings success to your strategy.
